My husband and I were having progressively more marital issues which seemed to stem from my Chronic Pain Syndrome and associated depression.
I had seen my Primary Care Physician [ PCP] who had referred me to two psychiatrists, two other Pain Management specialists, a Rheumatologist and a Family Counselor. Despite trying their suggestions in terms of medications, exercise and psychologic tools, I was not getting better as I wished to be. My sleep was disturbed, I ached in my joints in the legs and in my neck and right arm and had very limited energy. To make matters worse, my depression and the above had me eating all the time and I was putting on much unattractive weight adding to my spiraling sense of despair.
Based on very successful results with his other two recent referrals to Massumi Associates, my PCP suggested that I also see Dr. Massumi. I was hesitant at first as none of my PCP’s previous suggestions for specialty care had helped. However, this time it turned out to be my PCP’s best advice.
Dr. Massumi correctly diagnosed early Lupus [ Systemic Lupus Erythematosus – SLE], started me on the modern biologic agents and supplemented that with periodic segmental blocks coupled with a program of ‘ Active Physical Conditioning’ based on referral to a local fitness program and the added oversight of a consultant PT manager affiliated with Massumi Associates. I have steadily improved and am now enjoying a revitalized relationship with my spouse and enjoying raising our four children. I have more energy than I’ve had in years and have begun to shed much needed weight thanks also to Massumi Associates and their diet and nutritional counseling services.
