Patient Testimonials
I had been diagnosed years ago with Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome [ KLS - a rare congenital neuromusculoskeletal malformation manifesting with port-wine stains – birthmarks – of cutaneous capillary malformations and extremity hypertrophy with spinal myelopathy and paraparesis / plegia as well as ill-defined peripheral neuropathic symptoms and signs]. In the recent past, this had led to more progressive pain and burning in my legs, weaker hips and back with exaggerated pain and my dependency on a wheelchair.
This last matter was to have a detrimental effect on my independence and associated with the progressive pain from neuropathy [ peripheral nerve deterioration] was leading to my progressive dependency and ensuing depression. Even with my wife’s strong emotional and loving support, I was beginning to have second thoughts about my work capabilities and the ability to remain a strong provider for my family.
Thanks to my private physician who noted excellent success with his other patients referred to Massumi Associates, I was asked to see Dr. Massumi for a comprehensive Rehabilitation Medicine consultation.
Based on a thorough assessment of my physical and mental condition and the many advanced tests that better delineated my progressive condition, Dr. Massumi & his staff and affiliates have started me on a program of medications, exercise and diet that have proven most effective.
I’m more energetic, have a much greater sense of focus and have overcome my depressive tendencies. Massumi Associates continue to play the role of strong advocates for me in securing modern, electronic assistive and mobility devices ( e.g. iBot from www.independencetechnology.com ) which will further enhance my independence. I plan to work a full working life-span and despite my significant chronic medical problems, I credit Massumi Associates and Dr. Massumi with getting me back on the track of a solid employment and avocational pattern.
